BRAIN TEASERS

Test if your brain is masculine or feminine, that is, does it have less or more white matter?

Women's brains have more white matter, and hence more connections and can process information faster. But don't cheat! You get only 15 seconds to do the test.

IS YOUR BRAIN MASCULINE OR FEMININE?

Read the following text in 15 seconds or less.

Count the number of times the letter f is repeated in the text.

"For some people, the study of the mind is fascinating. Frequent use of online psychology tests can have transformative effects on one's sense of self."

FOUND F SEVEN TIMES ?
YOU HAVE A MASCULINE BRAIN!

THE LETTER " F" ACTUALLY APPEARS TEN TIMES IN THE TEXT

TAKE ANOTHER LOOK

"For some people, the study of the mind is fascinating. Frequent use of online psychology tests can have transformative effects on one's sense of self."

THIS ROUND GOES TO THE WOMEN!!

Women can process information upto 12% faster. Coupled with the female advantage in understanding language, it may be easier for them to pick out the letter f, even in the word 'of' which men may miss out entirely.

Now for some optical illusions. Here goes...

Are the two vertical lines differently sized or the same?

They are the same size.Measure and see!
Optical illusions are often described as visual images that differ from reality - the eyes and brain 'sees' something that doesn't quite match the physical measurement of the image. Optical illusions come from the effects on the eyes and brain through excessive stimulation, where the eye and brain make unconscious inferences.

Do the straight lines make a square?

Yes.This is actually a square. The circles trick the brain into thinking that they are not.
An optical illusion happens because the different parts of the eye process images  at different speeds, this sometimes means that false images are sent to the brain.

Read the road sign and answer the question that follows:

Is the sign correct?

Read it again. It is actually not.
Although we have 5 major senses, most of the information from our surroundings comes from the eyes, making sight a very important part of our lives. Optical illusions can be caused by our brain expecting to see something, and processing the eye's signals in a way that creates something that makes sense on one hand, but on further looking begins to make less sense.

See how easy it is to trick the brain into seeing what you want it to see! If you have more tricks up your sleeve, do get back to me by email or google+ or a comment on the blog.
